I’ve been intending to post this for a while, so I hope I can be forgiven for the delay.
Several weeks ago, my mother unsubtly hinted that she was sure my gran would like to see my Blackwork, and so I decided to stitch Laurie, by designer Jeanne Dansby, over at Byrd’sNest.
Laurie |
Laurie was stitched on 14-count Aida. I used DMC shade E3852 for the gold outline, and DMC shades E703 (green) and 4018 (pink) for the filling stitches. The card was one that I just happened to have in my stash, and it’s down to pure luck that the colour of it happens to work so well with Laurie. The piece of batting I placed behind the Aida could have done with being fractionally larger, and because of this, I feel it spoils the overall look of the card. It’s only been during this past year that I’ve started to use batting, and in my opinion, cutting it so that it is exactly the right size, is definitely an art within itself.

The pink suits the design perfectly! Great job! :)
UTTERLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!
Your colour combination is SO VERY PRETTY and I'm going to have to write that one down and put it someplace safe for future reference :) I'd never think of think of combining pink and green, beyond the obvious pink flower/green leaves combination I'm rather partial towards, and with the gold it's just so lovely and striking - very fresh looking. And did I mention PRETTY?! I hope your Gran loves it; I truly don't see how she could not! (and what a most thoughtful and lovely gift CS)!!!
Karen & Aurelia - Thank you for your lovely comments.
I'm not actually sure if my gran is a fan of hot pink, as I have to confess that it's not a colour I would automatically associate with her. It's down to sheer luck that it just happens to work so well with the green.
This is SUCH a pretty design and I just love the colours you've chosen for it. I love pink and green together anyway, but the gold has just set the whole thing off perfectly! I hope your gran loves it as much as I do! :)
Thank you RD. :-D
